Crappy College Essay Time
Many people put everything in to categories; boxes for
ideas, boxes for people, boxes for experiences, boxes for time. A cheerleader
starting a philosphy club? An english freak in AP Physics? Can these ideas,
people, experiences, and time really all fit in to one box, or do some things
fall outside of it? People are always saying to think outside of the box, but
really what if all the information we need is right here, inside of the box?
But no one notices it or will ever find it because they are always too busy
searching to find a way out. The few who remain inside will have all the
knowledge to themselves. This could be the intelligent people of the world, or
the lazy people who are just happy with what they have, or both. Maybe there is
not even a box. Maybe I am in a wide open plane and that is why I like Math,
Science, English, History, Cheerleading, Art, Music, etc…because I do not have
these artificial boundaries. This lack of boundaries is paralleled in my social
life where I have friends from many different groups. I realize I just
separated these friends of mine in to boxes when I said they were in groups, so
maybe a lack of boundaries is not truly what I have, but more like an ability
to not just cross boundaries, but to not mind crossing those boundaries. With
all of this said, I still have not found a solution to what is inside or outide
of the box, or if these boxes even exist. And this does not bother me, because
maybe the absense of knowledge is what creates knowledge itself. The less I
know, the more I want to know, but when I know more, I begin to realize that I
actually know less and less, which is knowing more than I did in the first
place.
